A series of events happened in the last few weeks that got me really thinking. When some difficult and especially uncomfortable seasons come into our lives we often don’t understand that they can be redemptive. We need to begin to trust in God’s perfect and unconditional love, nothing we go through is without his knowledge and he is making something good of those situations. Circumstances are variable but God’s love is always a constant.
This blog came out of one of these seasons. Where do I start from? I grew up in a Christian home and began to learn naturally all the dos and don’ts of the law and morality but luckily I was also exposed to God’s word which made me understand that salvation can’t be received by doing right but by faith in Jesus Christ. Even before we ever understood his love or realised our sins he gave himself for us all he wants from us is to accept it and not try to earn it. I gave my life to Christ when I was very young and over the years I have experienced him in different measures.
Recently these thoughts filled my heart that through life experiences and all the busy-ness most of us forget who God has made us in Christ and even hardly ‘witness’ Him; we are simply overwhelmed by everything around us. If we don't tell or show anyone what our experiences of God are who will? I know the whole world is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God. They want to see a God relevant to them now and who knows where they are at. We are only sons of God when we are led by the Spirit of God. The word of God, the bible is the written word but the Holyspirit leads us to the 'RHEMA' which makes God's word relevant to us now.
That was what Jesus did, he met a woman at the well and told her life story. She believed him instantly and even told the whole city about him (John 4). It was first hand information from her not just what others said about Jesus. We need to begin to strongly desire these kind of experiences so that we are effective witnesses and begin to write our own ‘Acts' as the apostles did. God is relevant we are the only one that can show this light to the world.
I was sitting in church on Sunday and listening to God’s word been preached on ‘abiding in Christ’ and fellowshipping with other Christians and this thought came to me. We all have stories to tell, I know I do, we all have encouragements, questions etc. In our own little ways we can begin to share our 'rhema' not the general word but specific word from God by his Spirit.
We can begin to share what we have experienced so that we don’t forget and also inspire others to have the same kind of faith and as a body we build ourselves up telling as many as need to hear that God is not a fable and christians are not delusional but he is real and relevant to them now!
